Ontario Premier Doug Ford said that his government will reevaluate the Greenbelt lands, including hundreds of additional requests to remove land, which could lead to further changes to protected lands.
Ford added that the assessment is part of a larger review ordered by the previous Liberal government, which mandated that the Greenbelt lands be reviewed every 10 years.
He noted that this will also be one of the new Housing Minister Paul Calandra's first tasks, who took office after Steve Clark's resignation from the government.
He said, "There will be a complete top-to-bottom review and they will have to stand on their merits."
Ford told reporters on Wednesday, "It's not just about the 14 lands, but it will be the seven or the 800 across the board," and at the same time, Ford affirmed that he will not back down from development.
