The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces have disabled 118 Ukrainian military infrastructure facilities and destroyed dozens of military vehicles and equipment since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine.
Russian Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov explained in a statement today, Friday, that during the operation in Ukraine, Russian forces destroyed 18 tanks, other armored combat vehicles, 7 rocket launcher systems, 41 military vehicles, and five combat boats.
The Russian forces also shot down five fighter jets, one helicopter, and five Ukrainian drones, according to the spokesman.
He added that more than 150 soldiers from various branches of the Ukrainian forces laid down their arms and surrendered during the hostilities, among them 82 soldiers belonging to the Ukrainian garrison on Snake Island in the Black Sea in the Odessa region.
Konashenkov pointed out that after the surrender of these soldiers and their signing of a pledge not to participate in combat, they will be returned to their families.
Today, Friday, the Russian Armed Forces continued for the second day their special operation in Ukraine aimed at protecting Donbas and disarming Ukraine to eliminate threats emanating from Ukrainian territory to the security of Russia.
The Russian army continues its advance towards Kyiv
The Russian Armed Forces continue to carry out their special military operation in Ukraine for the second consecutive day, advancing towards the capital Kyiv.
An Anadolu correspondent reported hearing explosions in the Ukrainian capital early today, Friday.
Meanwhile, the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian army indicated on their "Facebook" account that Russian missiles are targeting Kyiv, confirming that they destroyed two of these missiles while they were in flight.
Concurrently, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that it blew up a bridge to hinder the Russian advance towards Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said, "Airborne assault forces blew up a bridge over the Teteriv River in Ivankiv, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) north of Kyiv, in an attempt to prevent a Russian convoy from advancing towards the capital."
In addition, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister condemned today, Friday, the launch of "Russian missiles that targeted Kyiv at dawn and led to at least three injuries."
Dmytro Kuleba wrote on "Twitter": "A horrific launch of Russian missiles on Kyiv," adding that "the last time our capital witnessed something like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by Nazi Germany. Ukraine defeated that devil and will defeat this devil as well."
