Didier Leschi, the director general of the French Office for Immigration and Integration, stated in a television interview yesterday, Friday, September 29, 2023, "France has never received as many migrants as it does today."
He indicated that the number of migrants will be greater than ever in France, as he put it.
In response to a question about whether a migrant is someone who holds foreign citizenship, Didier Leschi clarified that this term refers to a person born outside of France. He added that there are approximately seven million migrants in France, of whom two million have obtained French citizenship.
The director general attributed the significant increase in the number of migrants to France and Europe in general to economic reasons or family reunification.
