Alberta Premier Danielle Smith spoke emotionally to reporters about the E. coli outbreak in a number of daycare centers in Calgary, announcing that the kitchen believed to be responsible for the outbreak has been closed indefinitely.
The Premier also said that families affected by the outbreak will receive a one-time payment of $2,000.
Additionally, cockroaches were found in the kitchen used by daycare centers in Calgary amid the E. coli outbreak.
There are 96 confirmed cases of E. coli in daycare centers in Calgary, and 22 children have been hospitalized.
