The Canadian government has issued a warning to its citizens regarding travel to Colombia, where the country is facing increasing insecurity in the city of Medellín and other areas, highlighting the danger in conflict zones with a significant presence of armed groups.
The Colombian news magazine quoted the official Canadian government travel and tourism website as saying: "Its citizens should exercise strong security caution when traveling to the Andean region country," pointing to "high rates of crime and sexual exploitation of minors, especially in Medellín, in Antioquia province."
The warnings came shortly after the death of Salu Lloyd, a 60-year-old Canadian citizen, whose body was found in Medellín with a head injury on February 12, with the incident under investigation.
