The federal government said yesterday, Saturday, that Canada has decided to suspend direct development assistance to the government of Niger in response to the coup attempt in the country.
The government added in a statement that the suspension will include Canada’s direct budget support to the government of Niger.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune had confirmed that Algeria absolutely rejects any military intervention in Niger.
Tebboune said in an interview with local media, “Any intervention will ignite the Sahel region.”
