The Bulgarian President Rumen Radev opposed today, Monday, the agreement to send Sofia's armored personnel carriers of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior to Ukraine for free, which was approved by the Bulgarian parliament on November 22.

Radev said, according to the Sofia News Agency, "The armored personnel carriers that will be donated to Kyiv can be used to protect the Bulgarian borders and assist the population in case of disasters and accidents, and the priority is to support Bulgarian citizens," calling for the agreement to be returned to the parliament for reconsideration.

Earlier, lawmakers in Bulgaria voted in favor of an agreement between the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense regarding the provision of armored personnel carriers for free, where 152 MPs from the ruling majority voted in favor of sending the equipment to Kyiv, while 57 MPs from opposition parties opposed it.

The Ukrainian side was scheduled to receive armored transport vehicles equipped with weapons not used by the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, consisting of about 100 armored personnel carriers in total, in addition to spare parts.
