Bloomberg reported that Google has halted the publication of traffic data in Google Maps and Waze in Israel and the Gaza Strip, at the request of the Israeli military.

The agency quoted a company representative as saying: "As has been done before, when conflicts break out, and in response to developments in the situation in the region, we temporarily suspended the display of real-time traffic and congestion information for security reasons."

The company representative also stated that the real reason for this decision is that real-time traffic information could be used to gain data on the movement of Israeli forces.

The agency reported that an unnamed source revealed that Google deleted the traffic information at the request of the Israeli military.

According to Bloomberg, Google acted similarly in the past, as it disabled the ability to display real-time traffic and congestion information in Ukraine in March 2022.
