Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals accused Pierre Poilievre of "using his videos to appeal to anti-women far-right movements online," after it was revealed that Poilievre's YouTube channel was using a hidden tag to promote his videos among anti-women audiences. Trudeau said in the House of Commons on Thursday that he wants to see Poilievre take responsibility, stating: "The choice made by the leader of the Conservative Party to reach extremist groups online, attracting anti-women groups to achieve his own political gains, is a choice he will have to answer for."

The tag, first reported by Global News, used to target online audiences, "mgtow#", which is an abbreviation for "men going their own way," is considered a reference to a group of anti-feminist men who seek to separate themselves from women. CTV News independently verified the previous use of the "mgtow" tag embedded in the video code on Poilievre's YouTube page, using the Wayback Machine of the Internet Archive. Global News reported that after the use of the tag was raised with Poilievre's office, it was later removed from videos uploaded over the past few years. Trudeau repeatedly challenged Poilievre to address the issue during Question Period, where the governing party is supposed to face the questions.

In the same context, Trudeau stated: "These are anti-women movements and have serious consequences. Mr. Speaker, I call on the leader of the Conservative Party to stand in this chamber, take responsibility, and apologize." In response, Poilievre confirmed that he "fixed the issue," saying he condemns "all forms of hatred against women" and "takes full responsibility" for what happened.
