Those heading out on the roads are advised to exercise caution as Toronto sees its first snowfall of the season.
The Canadian Environment Ministry also issued a winter travel advisory for Toronto and most of the GTA on Tuesday as snow covered the city.
The first snowfall in the city this season comes thanks to a low-pressure system that moved across Lake Erie overnight.
The agency also said: "East winds off Lake Ontario are expected to enhance this snowfall for most of the Golden Horseshoe, significantly reducing visibility in heavy snowfall."
Snowfall of 5 to 10 cm is also expected in Toronto, but the Canadian Environment Ministry warned that "there is a possibility of snowfall exceeding 10 cm in some areas." The agency urged people to exercise caution amid the return of winter weather.
The statement read: "Prepare for rapidly deteriorating travel conditions. Extra caution should be taken when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down in slippery conditions, watch for brake lights ahead, and maintain a safe following distance. If you must drive, be prepared for areas with low visibility."
Additionally, a rise to 4 degrees Celsius is expected in Toronto on Tuesday, with light snow showers continuing until Wednesday.
