The "New York Times" newspaper said that Israeli officials received documents more than a year ago regarding Hamas' plan for the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation which was carried out on October 7th, but they did not take it seriously.

The newspaper said that Israeli officials considered the "Al-Aqsa Flood" attack plan to be "very ambitious".

The "New York Times" based its report on documents and emails from Israeli officials.

According to the American newspaper, a 40-page document about Hamas' plans did not specify a date for the operation, but it described all the Israeli fortifications, the location, and the strengths of the Israeli forces.

It explained that Israeli analysts considered that the scale of such an attack (Al-Aqsa Flood) exceeded the capabilities of Hamas and described the plan as "ambitious".

As the newspaper points out, Hamas executed this plan "with astonishing precision". Officials admitted that if they had taken the document seriously, Israel could have prepared or prevented the infiltration of Hamas fighters on October 7th.

On October 14th, the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, acknowledged that Israel failed in its mission to prevent the "Al-Aqsa Flood" attack, but at the same time, Hanegbi clarified that Israel did not receive a specific warning of an imminent attack from Hamas, including from Egypt.

He added that on October 7th, two and a half hours before the attack, the head of the Israeli General Security Service was summoned for an urgent briefing on new intelligence information, but it did not lead to mobilization.
