Two people were killed and three others injured in a collision on Caledon Road in Ontario this Tuesday morning.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the accident occurred on Hart Lake Road, between Mayfield Road and Old School Road, just before 8 a.m., causing a collision between a passenger car and a school bus.

Sources reported that one victim died immediately at the scene, while another was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The police said another person was seriously injured, while the bus driver sustained minor injuries.

The police say a child was on the bus at the time of the accident and was assessed at the scene with no injuries.

Joe Presipua told reporters at the scene, "Clearly, this is tragic. It is tragic on the best of days but especially very close to the holiday period. The message to drivers: please slow down, maintain control, don’t drive recklessly, and drive according to weather and road conditions."

Few details have been provided regarding the circumstances of the collision.

Hart Lake Road is expected to remain closed for several hours while police investigate the accident.
