The event was brief, but a tornado struck Manitoba, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

ECCC told CTV News that the tornado touched down at 6:38 pm, five kilometers east of Teulon, Man.

The Emergency Coordination Authority said there were no reports of damage or injuries.

Tornado watches and warnings were in effect Tuesday evening for the areas of Dugald, Beausejour, Grand Beach, Beausejour, Victoria Beach, Nopiming Provincial Park, and Pine Falls as well as Whitemouth, Lac du Bonnet, and Pinawa.

As of 10:20 pm, the warnings ended. ECCC says that if a tornado watch is upgraded to a tornado warning, people should go indoors to a basement room, away from exterior walls and windows.

If you are in a car, tent, trailer, RV, or any other temporary or standalone shelter, you should move to a sturdy building if you can.

ECCC noted that there were also reports of hail in Manitoba; however, the weather agency reported that wind gusts of 74 kilometers per hour were recorded in the Great Falls area.

The storm is now expected to make its way to Ontario. As of Wednesday morning, ECCC reported that the Manitoba community of Komarno received golf ball-sized hail during Tuesday’s storm, while Great Falls experienced 25 mm of rain.

There are currently no weather warnings in the province.
