Ottawa police said two men are facing charges related to an alleged armed robbery in the south end of Ottawa. The police added in a press release on Wednesday, October 12, that the victim was walking down the street when two men cut her off at around 11:15 p.m. on October 6, where they stopped in a car near her, then one of them got out and demanded she hand over her bag at gunpoint. The police also stated that shots were fired from the pistol carried by the offenders, but the woman was not injured, as the weapon was a BB gun (a gun that uses air pressure to shoot small metal pellets).
Later, in the same context, the two men were found in Gatineau, where police there arrested one of the suspects after he surrendered without incident, but police had to chase the second suspect's car before apprehending him after a brief pursuit. Also, the woman’s personal bag was found inside the car, according to the regional police. Accordingly, Aus Abbas Hamid, 20, and Hussein Al-Farra, 23, both from Gatineau, face charges of robbery, theft, and armed threat, and Hamid is also charged with breaching probation. Both will appear in court next Tuesday.
