Most of Wonderland's 20-acre water park in Canada will reopen on Tuesday after a fire broke out over the weekend.
The fire broke out on Sunday, around 10:45 PM, at Splash Works, located in the northwest part of the amusement park.
The entire amusement park was evacuated late Sunday night after a small fire broke out and spread inside Splash Works, which had closed at 6 PM that day.
The York Regional Police, who were on site to assist with the fire, said the park was evacuated "as a precaution due to smoke expansion."
Canada's Wonderland reopened to the public on Monday, but Splash Works, home to the largest outdoor wave pool in the country and 17 water slides, was out of service for the day.
In an email to CP24 on Tuesday, Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock said that while most of the water park will reopen on Tuesday, five water attractions will remain closed.
It was reported that the fire started shortly after Wonderland hosted the Civic Holiday fireworks, but it is not yet clear if the fire was related to the display.
