Water scarcity is considered one of the most prominent challenges facing the Middle East and North Africa region. Therefore, the researcher "Amr Selim" published a children's story "The Village of Friends" on the "Amazon" website in both Arabic and English, aiming to raise awareness among future generations about cooperation and solidarity to address the water shortage crisis, which may be one of the most serious obstacles facing future generations if they are not educated on how to collaborate to confront it.
"Amr," the author of the story, says: "The World Bank recently warned months ago that people across the Middle East and North Africa are facing an unprecedented water shortage, and that the amount of water available per person annually will drop below the absolute water scarcity limit of 500 cubic meters per person per year, indicating that there is a real need for awareness not only for adults but also for children who are considered the core of future generations, who are supposed to face these challenges and deal with them properly away from conflicts."
He added: "The story features three main characters: 'Mahmoud, George, and Musa'—three children living in a small, beautiful, peaceful village. Through their cooperation, they succeed in saving the village from thirst and hunger. The book also contains a special section for coloring drawings to help children strengthen observation and perception and encourage them to engage with these awareness matters. He noted that he specifically used artificial intelligence to create the images in the story, but the content is preferred to be innovative and the creation of the human mind."
It is worth noting that "Amr" holds a master's degree in political science specializing in African affairs from the Higher Institute of African Studies at Cairo University. He was selected by UNESCO as the head of the Synergy Working Group with the Sustainable Development Goals in its global media alliance. He was also chosen to represent the region for two consecutive years as a member of the international committee responsible for organizing the World Media Week affiliated with the organization. A German publishing house published his book three years ago in both Arabic and English and distributed it in more than one hundred countries around the world. The book includes an innovative strategy for peacefully resolving conflicts in the region.
