Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the front line near Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday, as announced by the Ukrainian presidency.
A statement issued by the presidency clarified: "Volodymyr Zelensky visited the units launching attacks in the Bakhmut area."
The statement also mentioned that Zelensky "listened to reports about the operational situation" on the eastern front.
This summer, Russian forces seized Bakhmut, the industrial city that had a population of 70,000 before the war, after months of fierce fighting.
Ukrainian forces are conducting a continuous attack on the outskirts of the town, which has now turned into ruins.
Zelensky also met with military leaders in the area and discussed "the problems and needs of the units," including "providing artillery shells and missiles for air defense systems on the front lines."
On Monday, Zelensky announced that he had visited the Donetsk region located in the east of the country, where Bakhmut is situated, and posted a video on social media alongside soldiers.
These visits also come in the wake of the dismissal of Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov after Kyiv announced last week some tactical successes in its counteroffensive against Russian forces.
