Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Saturday night that his country will continue to work with Qatar to ensure the release of hostages held by Hamas, following the release of two Americans on Friday.
In a post on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), Trudeau thanked Qatar for its assistance in their release.
On Friday, Hamas released the hostages, a mother and her daughter, who were kidnapped in the group's attack on Israel on October 7.
Earlier, the "Qassam Brigades," Hamas's military wing, announced that it is ready to release the detainees "Norit" and "Yokhved" on Sunday under the same procedures that were used for the release of the two American hostages.
Abu Obeida, the military spokesman for the "Qassam Brigades," had stated that Israel refused to take two of the detainees that the group decided to release.
Abu Obeida also mentioned in a statement, "We informed our Qatari brothers on Friday evening that we will release both Norit Yitzhak, who has identification number 001145416, and Yokhved Levishtitz, who has identification number 005236955, for compelling humanitarian reasons and without any conditions."
The spokesman for the "Qassam Brigades" confirmed that "the occupying government refused to take them."
It is worth noting that the spokesman for the Israeli army stated on Saturday evening that the number of hostages held by Hamas is 210.
