Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Jakarta today, Tuesday, where he begins a six-day tour of the Indo-Pacific region.
Trudeau and his son Xavier were welcomed by Indonesian dancers, and the Prime Minister was presented with a traditional scarf. Trudeau is expected to spend two days in Jakarta, where he will meet with President Joko Widodo this evening.
Tomorrow, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as the bloc of 10 countries prepares to make Ottawa its newest strategic partner.
Trudeau's focus on this trip will be to strengthen ties with Asian leaders and boost trade conversations. He is also scheduled to travel to Singapore to meet with business leaders before concluding his trip to attend the G20 summit in India.
