The Conservative Party's political conference in Quebec City begins today, Thursday.
During the policy conference, the party is preparing the outlines of key policies and the agenda of electoral points. Conferences are not just an opportunity for party members to gather and discuss the party's new direction, but also a means to attract voters.
Recent polls show that the popularity of Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre has increased, and the Conservative Party is capable of forming a majority government if elections are held soon.
Poilievre focuses on austerity, inflation, and the failures of the current government. However, some party members have other issues on their minds.
Additionally, the list of policy proposals to be discussed at the conference includes addressing inflation, some changes to mortgage terms, and alterations to the rules around withdrawing funds from RRSP programs for seniors, but other aspects are also up for discussion at the conference.
These include issues such as transgender policies, restricting euthanasia, ending mandatory diversity training, ending mandatory vaccinations, and ending the state of emergency.
These policies have been approved by the riding associations, which are the grassroots units of the party, to be discussed at the conference. There will be further discussion on Saturday before the final vote on the new policies.
