Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas confirmed, this evening, Tuesday, the importance of providing humanitarian and relief assistance to the Gaza Strip and securing supplies of water, electricity, and essential materials.
This came during a phone call from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, during which the latest developments on the Palestinian scene were discussed.
Abbas emphasized the necessity of working with all regional and international parties to stop the Israeli aggression against Palestinians everywhere, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian president expressed gratitude and appreciation for Norway's supportive positions for peace, recalling the role Norway played in the peace process and its ongoing role in mobilizing assistance to build Palestinian institutions, boost the Palestinian economy, and coordinate among donor countries.
Abbas stressed the need to work towards a political solution that ends the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Norway confirmed that his country will continue to stand by the Palestinian people in their pursuit of self-determination and adherence to the two-state solution.
In the same context, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, directed this evening to provide urgent aid to the Palestinians in the amount of twenty million dollars.
This support comes through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, also directed the sending of urgent humanitarian and medical assistance to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, through the Rafah crossing in full and prior coordination with the Egyptian brothers.
King Abdullah II demanded that the necessary needs for Palestinians in the West Bank be determined and provided as quickly as possible.
