Canada continues to face a hotter-than-usual summer, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

The weather agency stated that experts expect high temperatures to continue for the rest of the season.

The weather agency tweeted: “Climate change is affecting the frequency, duration, and intensity of extreme weather in Canada.”

ECCC also added that this could lead to more wildfires, deteriorating air quality, heatwaves, and drought across the country.

It published a graphic detailing the likelihood of temperature predictions being above, below, or near the normal average across Canada from July to September.

For his part, Derek Lee, a meteorologist at Environment and Climate Change Canada, stated that based on the agency's chart, temperatures will be higher than usual from Manitoba to the eastern coast.

He pointed out that since it is a probabilistic chart, it does not really tell you how much higher the temperatures will be above the normal average or how hot the weather will be.

Additionally, the summer season has certainly been tough across Canada. Hundreds of active wildfires in the country have led to thick smoke rising across the border.

Many firefighters have also lost their lives in the devastating wildfires in Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories.

Air quality data has been issued for different parts of the country.

As for the upcoming winter forecasts, things are taking a turn as cold weather is expected to return to most parts of Canada.
