Not shutting down laptops or activating Shut Down when finished is common among users, as many do not bother to turn off the devices, but only disconnect them from the power, which causes significant negative effects in the long term, both on the battery life and the overall performance of the laptop.
According to SlashGear website, in the United States alone, 33% of total laptop users do not shut down their devices when finished using them, which leads to poor device performance, overheating issues, and slow operation, forcing users eventually to buy new devices.
The main reason for the laptops being affected and their performance weakening when left on without shutting down through activating Shut Down is that the device's operating system needs updates or many programs are running in the background, especially if you are using the Windows system.
Experts recommend shutting down laptops and computers every night and activating Shut Down to improve their performance. Shutting down forces the programs running in the background to close, and if the computer is in sleep mode, those programs that consume a large amount of RAM will resume when activated.
When the laptop remains on, it heats up, even if the fan is running, causing your hardware to wear out. Therefore, turning off the laptop or activating Shut Down can help increase your device's lifespan from a few months to years, depending also on how you use it.
If you shut down or restart the laptop, it can turn off background programs and fix malfunctions during the proper restart of drivers. Also, if you activate Shut Down every night or each time you use your device, you will not miss vital updates and upgrades, maintaining the sound performance of your device.
