Clashes erupted in South Darfur, Sudan, since last night, Friday, resulting in the death of 200 people, while witnesses reported heavy weapon clashes in the city of Nyala, the capital of the state, in western Sudan, this morning, Saturday, according to what international news agencies reported.
According to medical sources, the clashes also resulted in many injuries, as the hospital in Nyala received dozens of wounded civilians last night.
In a related context, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees coordinator in the Darfur region (western Sudan), Toby Harwood, warned of the seriousness of the situation in Darfur and the slide into a humanitarian disaster due to insecurity, noting that many UN facilities have been looted, destroyed, and markets burned, with armed groups spreading that kill people indiscriminately due to their ethnicity.
