Media from the Polish border reported today, Sunday, that snow covers the entire borderlands and hinders the movement of displaced Ukrainian refugees.
They added that the bad weather conditions led to a decrease in the number of displaced people, and also resulted in an increase in the number of internally displaced persons within Ukraine, surpassing the number of refugees outside it.
They confirmed that the number of refugees who arrived in Poland reached two million and 437 thousand refugees.
They pointed out that the economic sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia caused the rise of the Russian ruble price, returning it to its pre-military operation level, after President Vladimir Putin demanded payment for natural gas exported to Europe in rubles.
They explained that Poland still demands imposing more sanctions on Russia to pressure it and force it to retract its military operation in Ukraine, as Poland suffers from the burdens of supporting Ukrainian refugees and providing them with food, shelter, and humanitarian aid.
They said that refugees prefer to stay in Poland over other European countries due to its proximity to Ukraine and provision of medical and humanitarian services, and their hope that the military operation will end and they will return to their country as quickly as possible again.
It is noteworthy that Ukraine announced yesterday that the entire Kyiv region has been liberated, as Russian forces are rapidly withdrawing from the north of the country to maintain better control.
The chief Ukrainian negotiator in peace talks with Russia revealed that Moscow has verbally agreed to major Ukrainian proposals, which raises hopes of making progress in the talks to end the war.
The Ukrainian government said that Russian forces are conducting a rapid withdrawal from the Kyiv and Chernihiv areas in northern Ukraine to redeploy towards the east and south.
Ukrainians announced that they regained control of Irpin, which had fallen into Russian hands since the end of February.
