A Palestinian official said that a Saudi delegation is scheduled to visit Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah this week amid diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Israel and the Kingdom that may include concessions for the Palestinians.
The official added that the delegation will be headed by the Saudi non-resident envoy to the Palestinians, who was appointed last month.
This visit comes after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that efforts are underway to reach an agreement to normalize relations between the two countries.
However, U.S. officials indicated that normalization is still a distant goal as the agreement is expected to involve a defense agreement with Washington and a civil nuclear program for Saudi Arabia.
Among the issues that still need to be settled is the Palestinian issue and calls for reviving a peace process leading to a two-state solution.
Abbas also stated last week that no peace agreement can be reached in the Middle East before granting the Palestinians their full rights, while the Saudi foreign minister also called for reviving the goal of a two-state solution.
