A man was charged following a confrontation in the Blairmore neighborhood of the city. Several reports came in on Sunday evening about a man carrying a gun, according to the Saskatoon Police Service.
The agency said in a press release, "Officers responded and located a man uncooperative with the police who brandished a firearm in a manner that threatened himself."
Traffic restrictions were applied as the police worked to calm the situation to prevent panic among citizens and those present at the scene.
After about an hour, with the man continuing to disobey orders, the public health agency said officers took him into custody using "less-lethal options." A 42-year-old man faces eight weapon-related charges and an assault charge related to the incident.
