The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Moscow, in response to Canadian measures, closed the CBC broadcasting office in Moscow and revoked accreditations of Canadian journalists.
The official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said: "We have warned repeatedly about this matter. We said that unilateral restrictive measures that violate the principles of freedom of expression and hinder the normal work of Russian media will not go unanswered. It must be clear to everyone that our response is inevitable and applies to every similar case."
She added: "In this regard, a decision was made to take retaliatory measures related to Canada’s procedures, which are the closure of the office of the Canadian state broadcasting company CBC in Moscow, as well as the cancellation of Russian accreditations and visas for its journalists."
