As we all know, Canada's National Day is just around the corner, as on the first of July every year Canadians celebrate this anniversary that marks Independence Day.
On the 150th anniversary of their country's independence from Britain, nearly six years ago, Canadians celebrated in their own unique way, when then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his country's welcome to everyone who comes to his country regardless of their origin or religion and said, "You are all welcome." In my view, this welcome was coupled with guarantees of a decent living and everything related to it.
As Canada has accustomed us to being a beautiful haven for everyone without any discrimination, we hope it remains so—a haven for preserving freedoms without any suppression of opinion or targeting any group with the aim of fully melting it down or excessively integrating it, rather than moderate integration within a framework that ensures the preservation of its customs, traditions, and what its creed dictates to it, so that this does not make things difficult for many and make them live under pressure and anxiety. This matter requires scrutiny to ensure everyone feels at ease without psychological pressures alongside the life and economic pressures that disrupt stability and the feeling of living safely.
To learn more about this dear national occasion, it is necessary to learn about Canada as a country, officially called the State of Canada or the Canadian Federal Union.
Canada is a country located specifically within the boundaries of the continent of North America, and is considered one of the countries composed of provinces, numbering ten provinces, and territories, totaling three. Canada is also located in the northern part of the continent, with its borders starting from the Atlantic Ocean in the east and reaching the Pacific Ocean in the west. Canada or the Canadian Union is classified as the second largest country in the world by total area, in addition, the Canadian Federal Union shares borders with the United States of America from the south, north, and west sides, and it is considered the longest country in the world.
This leads us to learn more about Canada’s independence and the recognition of this day as a national holiday, as on the first day of July in the year 1867, the Canadian government announced its independence from the British Crown. This was in addition to the establishment and achievement of unity at that time. This day is considered a pivotal and significant historical event with a great impact on Canada's history. Consequently, all countries recognized the entity and official independence of Canada, considering it an actual country with its various components, as well as considering it an independent state with sovereignty, institutions, and governance that manages its affairs.
Since independence until now, Canada has achieved many accomplishments over the ages, including many achievements in media, broadcast, television, technological development, and today it is a leader in scientific research in many fields including energy and climate change.
Canada also chose its flag and the colors available on it on this day, as well as its national anthem.
The question is, what do citizens in Canada do on National Independence Day?
The first day of July each year is considered National Independence Day, during which citizens and individuals inside and outside the Canadian Federal Union hold many celebratory manifestations. This represents a traditional expression of their love, loyalty, and belonging to the Canadian Union or their country. On this day, citizens hold celebrations or festive events including: raising the Canadian Union flag in all Canadian regions, in addition to organizing large military parades attended by senior Canadian state officials and officials from other countries.
Canadians also make sure to wear clothing bearing the Canadian flag or in red and white colors, which symbolizes Canadians’ pride in their country.
It is worth mentioning that Canada is a multicultural country based on preserving freedoms, beliefs, and respecting freedom of opinion and expression, which made it an important destination for many oppressed people on earth. Rather, it has become a safe place for everyone.
Canada is also one of the members of the G7 group, which shapes the world’s economic and political policies.
Moreover, Canada has become a haven for scientists and creatives who do not find opportunities in their own countries, to find here in Canada fertile ground to launch into the seas of science, knowledge, and research that contribute to development in all fields, especially technological ones.
This does not overlook some negative aspects, but no one can deny that Canada grants everyone the opportunity to advance and participate in decision-making and building.
On this occasion, which is just around the corner, I want to be the first to say: Wishing you and all Canadians a very happy year, wishing Canada in all its details all the best… God bless Canada as a country and people at all official and popular levels.
Finally, it must be emphasized that Independence Day represents a good opportunity to renew the pledge, strengthen belonging, and affirm gratitude to Canada so that it remains forever a beautiful country and a safe haven for all beliefs, freedoms, and cultures without anyone having priority over another, or one group over another, or a place for pressure on any groups to accept what is difficult for them to accept!
