As autumn begins, Portugal is experiencing unusually high temperatures, surpassing 35 degrees Celsius, yesterday, Friday, according to the National Institute of Meteorology.
Temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius between Friday and Tuesday across the country, with the exception of a few coastal areas, according to the National Institute of Meteorology.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere explained in a statement that these temperatures cannot be compared to heat waves affecting the country during the hottest months, noting that "the expected temperatures correspond to an abnormal situation reaching about 5-8 degrees Celsius above the average for this season."
The source added that maximum temperatures are expected to reach values ranging from 35 to 37 degrees, especially in the southern region and the Tagus Valley.
