Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today, Wednesday (November 8, 2023), efforts to find a humanitarian truce in Gaza and his country's aspiration to work with Iraq; to achieve calm and find quick solutions to the crisis.
The media office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that the latter received a phone call this evening, Wednesday, from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, during which bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, as well as developments in the ongoing events in the Gaza Strip and the worsening humanitarian situation there.
According to the statement, Al Sudani confirmed during the call, "Iraq's firm and clear stance on the Palestinian issue and the struggle of the Palestinian people for their right to live with dignity on their land, as well as condemning the continuing aggression against Gaza, targeting civilians, shedding the blood of children and women, tightening the siege on them, and depriving them of their simplest rights to food and medicine."
He called for "the necessity of action by major and influential countries to protect international law, which was violated by the occupying authorities, who did not abide by international legitimacy."
For his part, the Canadian Prime Minister confirmed his country's keenness to work to find a humanitarian truce in Gaza, through which humanitarian aid can be delivered to civilians, and expressed Canada’s aspiration to work with Iraq to achieve calm and find quick solutions to the crisis, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called today, Wednesday, for a humanitarian truce in Gaza to release all detainees and deliver aid to Palestinian territories.
Trudeau told reporters today, Wednesday: "I don’t need to describe the atrocities... That is why we call for a humanitarian truce that allows us to release all Jewish detainees and continue evacuating foreign citizens from Gaza."
