Many blizzard warnings are still in effect in parts of southern Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie, after a day of strong winds and snow that caused problems for large parts of the province.

The Canadian Environmental Agency also issued warnings for areas including Barrie, Peterborough, Muskoka, Grey Bruce, and Waterloo, where snowfall of up to 50 cm is expected in some areas by Sunday.

Also, the Weather Agency warned of decreased visibility rates due to snowfall, as the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Department reported multiple calls regarding accidents in ditches due to the storms.

Additionally, the Niagara area bore the brunt on Saturday as the storm that hit Buffalo, New York, surged into the northern part of the region, causing heavy snowfall. The storms also caused multiple power outages across the province. As of 7 a.m., more than 1,900 Hydro One customers were without power.
