A man from Ontario was accused after nearly 10,000 counterfeit coins were found in circulation according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The police opened an investigation in the summer of 2021 after receiving complaints about the circulation of counterfeit two-dollar coins.

It was stated that through the investigation, 10,000 counterfeit coins were discovered that were placed into the Canadian banking system. Also, these counterfeit two-dollar coins can be distinguished by the basic flaw that characterizes them, which is the presence of a "split finger" at the front of the polar bear's right hand, resembling a "claw".

James Malaysia, Vice President of Corporate Security, said, "We will continue to work closely with financial institutions and the RCMP to ensure the safety of the Canadian currency supply."

According to a police statement, a 68-year-old man, "Dixon He," was arrested, accused of issuing and possessing counterfeit money. He has been arrested and will appear before the Newmarket court on June 2.
