The beginning of the week witnessed heavy rains and strong winds in southern Manitoba, where parts of the province received more than 60 mm of rain.
According to Environment Canada, over a 36-hour period from Monday to midday Tuesday, the city of Morden received the most rain at a rate of 82.7 mm.
The areas that received more than 60 mm include Dominion City (65.5 mm), Gretna (60.2 mm), and Cartwright (60.1 mm).
The weather agency reported that Dugald received 58.5 mm of rain, Stonewall received 57.9 mm, Carman 55.7 mm, Selkirk 53.8 mm, and Portage la Prairie received 53.7 mm.
As for Winnipeg, it received 52.3 mm of rain and 41 mm in The Forks. It was not only heavy rains that fell in Manitoba, but many neighboring areas also suffered from strong winds.
Environment Canada said wind speeds reached 106 km/h in Mordenosa, and 104 km/h at the Ken agricultural site, west of Morris.
In Portage la Prairie, the wind force reached 100 km/h, while wind speeds in Dominion City and Altona were 98 km/h. Also, Brandon experienced winds at 93 km/h, and in Winnipeg, their strength reached 87 km/h.
