Victoria police investigators are searching for a suspect who they say threw coffee on a mother and her child. At around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, a mother was walking with her child in a stroller at 900 Yates Street when a man approached her, started confronting her, and without warning or provocation, threw coffee on her and her child, according to police. Additionally, Victoria Police stated: "The man then shouted rudely at the mother about her child and left the area on foot. Fortunately, the coffee was not hot enough to cause physical injuries." The police also described the suspect as a man in his thirties, approximately five feet six inches tall, and of medium build. Furthermore, he was wearing a black and gray jacket and loose black pants at the time of the incident. In this context, the police stated that the suspect was last seen walking near the intersection of Quadra Street and Yates Street, urging any witnesses or anyone with information to contact VicPD at 250-995-7654, as the investigation is ongoing. The reason behind this act remains unknown according to police statements, which confirmed that the crime rate in the city has recently increased.
