The police in Dubai managed to arrest "Sanjay Shah," a British national, aged 52, who is considered one of the most wanted in Denmark.
According to Danish authorities, Shah is involved in the largest tax fraud and money laundering operation in the history of the Kingdom of Denmark, valued at 12 billion Danish kroner, equivalent to about 1.7 billion US dollars, through the establishment of several fake companies conducting fictitious operations.
The suspect was arrested after Dubai Police received an international arrest warrant from the Danish authorities under the international cooperation agreement.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, explained that the arrest of "Sanjay Shah" came after continuous and precise monitoring of his movements by the teams in the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Detectives at Dubai Police, under the supervision and follow-up of the Public Prosecution.
For his part, Major General Khaleel Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation Affairs, stated that through information exchange with the Danish authorities regarding Sanjay Shah, a task force was formed from the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Detectives, represented by the Wanted Persons Department and the Anti-Money Laundering Crimes Department, to investigate and track his movements and determine his residence, then worked to monitor his activities to arrest him.
Brigadier General Al Jalaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Detectives, explained that Sanjay Shah is accused of establishing several companies for the purpose of money laundering and tax evasion, and relying on false, misleading, and forged documents alongside other cross-border charges and cases.
Brigadier General Al Jalaf concluded that Dubai Police referred Sanjay Shah's file to the Public Prosecution to take judicial procedures for his extradition according to the international laws followed in this regard.
