International media reported on Sunday night that the headquarters of the American consulate, which is being built in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq, was targeted by five long-range rockets.
They said that one of the rockets fell on the headquarters of the Kurdish satellite channel k24, affiliated with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, but without any human losses.
For his part, a US official told Reuters news agency that there were no American soldier casualties as a result of the rocket attack on the city of Erbil in Iraq.
In turn, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, commented on the bombing that targeted the city of Erbil and caused damage to the "Kurdistan 24" satellite station near the building under construction for the American consulate.
Al-Sadr added in a tweet on "Twitter" that Erbil is "under the fire of betrayal and loss... and under the threat of starvation... as if the Kurds are not Iraqis."
He confirmed that "the Kurds are the lungs of Iraq and its indivisible part"..
He continued saying that "Erbil will only kneel to moderation, sovereignty, and independence," calling on the Kurds to be patient until achieving a "national majority government."
