U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed today, Sunday, that there will be no peace in the Middle East without an independent Palestinian state.

Blinken told reporters: "When the major military operation (in Gaza) ends, we need to establish a strong and lasting peace, and we must work towards that."

He added: "From our point of view, and I believe from the point of view of many people around the world, this must lead to the existence of a Palestinian state, we will not have strong peace, there will be no reliable security for Israel until the political demands of Palestine are met."

Reporters asked Blinken if the United States was ready to help Israel if hostilities continued for months, he replied: "Of course, everyone wants this conflict to end as soon as possible."

He pointed out that Israel faces a serious threat and that it needs to carry out this operation to ensure that a repeat of the Hamas attack will be impossible.

According to Blinken, the United States continues to discuss all issues with Israel, including the timing and details of the operation against Hamas.

The war on Gaza entered its 65th day, as Israeli forces continue to bombard cities and governorates in the northern and southern sectors, amid violent clashes and international fears of worsening the humanitarian disaster.
