In an attempt to ensure Canada gets the required workers to fill the labor market gap and strengthen the economy, the country expects to welcome more immigrants annually soon.
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser estimates the expectations at about 500,000 per year.
The Canadian immigration system has made Canada what it is today.
Because the people who move to the country help better and enrich the community as they work daily and create more job opportunities.
It is worth mentioning that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the number of immigrants who migrated to Canada.
Before the pandemic, Canada expected 340,000 new immigrants, however, the target number was not met due to strict restrictions requiring most activities to be done remotely.
This led to many people losing their jobs and fewer people migrating to Canada.
It is worth mentioning that Canada’s post-Covid-19 economic recovery plan set the target at 400,000 new immigrants to enter and support economic growth in 2021.
However, the target was exceeded as Canada welcomed 405,000 new immigrants.
The 2022-2024 immigration levels plan presented by Minister Sean Fraser in February 2022 showed that Canada intends to have 430,000 new immigrants annually, with the number expected to increase to 450,000 immigrants by 2024.
With a growth rate of 1%, the Immigration Minister confirmed that the target of 500,000 immigrants per year will be easily achieved.
According to Minister Sean Fraser, there are no clear timelines regarding when the target will be achieved, but based on the increase in the number of immigrants, the target will be achieved soon.
