Germany and Israel intend to sign the agreement for the purchase of the Israeli missile defense system "Arrow 3" in the German capital Berlin next Thursday.
A spokesperson for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in Tel Aviv said today, Tuesday, that the Israeli minister and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius are expected to sign the agreement.
The purchase of the "Arrow 3" air defense system aims to provide better protection for Germany and its neighbors against any potential missile attacks within about two years.
These guided missiles can destroy hostile long-range missiles outside the atmosphere with a direct hit.
According to Israeli data, the cost of the deal is about 4 billion euros, making it the largest arms deal in Israeli history.
Statements from Israel indicated that part of the agreement will include a joint statement on bilateral relations and cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced in mid-last month that Israel had obtained permission from the United States to sell the Arrow 3 to Germany, as the United States has the right to comment on the deal because it collaborates with Israel in developing this system.
The negotiations for purchasing the missile system began last year in response to the outbreak of the Russian war on Ukraine.
The Defense Committee in the German parliament gave the green light in mid-June for the purchase of this system, and the deal is expected to be funded from the special fund established for the military after the outbreak of the Russian war on Ukraine, which is valued at 100 billion euros.
