Ukraine has revealed the launch date of the first grain shipment to the world from the port of Chornomorsk, stating that the shipment will depart on Wednesday after an agreement was made with Russia in this regard. Both Russia and Ukraine had reached an agreement sponsored by Turkey and the United Nations to allow the safe passage of ships entering and exiting 3 Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, which Russia had closed since the beginning of its war on Ukraine on February 24.
It is worth mentioning that both Ukraine and Russia are primary grain exporters to the world. Since the war and the blockade imposed on the ports, tens of millions of tons of grain have been trapped in the country.
This, along with Western sanctions on Russia, caused increases in energy and food prices, sparking protests in developing countries dependent on Black Sea grains.
Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov confirmed that his country is preparing to resume grain exports from its ports overlooking the Black Sea, despite the Russian missile strike that paralyzed the movement of the Odessa port. In a tweet on his official social media account, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister explained that his country aims to increase agricultural product exports from our ports.
