Ben Mazrahi, a 22-year-old, was killed by Hamas gunfire in Israel on Saturday (October 7). Like Montreal citizen Alexander Luck, whose death was confirmed earlier, Mazrahi was also killed at a music festival near Gaza. Currently, three Canadian citizens are missing.
Metro Vancouver MP Talib Noor Muhammad revealed the news with the permission of Mazrahi's parents. They live in the area he represents. After the attack, Mazrahi's whereabouts became unknown. His parents hurried to Israel where they learned of the tragic news.
The King David High School in Vancouver, where Mazrahi attended, also published an obituary. His funeral is scheduled to take place in Israel on Wednesday.
As of Tuesday, more than 1,800 people have been killed in Hamas raids and subsequent Israeli counter-attacks. Israel has announced a complete siege on Gaza, cutting off water, electricity, and supplies. However, the United Nations stated that this violates international law and urged Israel to leave humanitarian channels open.
