Canada: Expulsion of 6 Indian diplomats linked to the assassination of a Sikh leader

On Monday, the Canadian Foreign Ministry stated that it expelled 6 senior Indian diplomats and consular officials in relation to the investigation into the assassination of a separatist Sikh leader in British Columbia.

This move came after India announced the expulsion of 6 senior Canadian diplomats on Monday and withdrew its envoy from Canada.

These reciprocal actions represent a significant deterioration in diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth countries, which have been strained since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated last June that he had evidence linking Indian agents to the assassination of the Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nagar on Canadian soil.
