The Canadian national soccer team players ended their strike to continue preparations for the 2022 World Cup finals scheduled in Qatar, but they confirmed that "there are questions that need answers and actions that must be taken."

The Canadian team, which qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986, had started a strike due to disputes with the Canadian Federation regarding the financial rewards for qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The team refused to play a friendly match that was scheduled this week against Panama, then the Canadian Federation responded to reports stating that the team players would receive only 10% of the financial prize amount that the Canadian Federation received from the International Federation (FIFA) following qualification for the World Cup.

The Canadian Federation stated that it had proposed allocating 30% of the prize to the men's team, 30% to the women's team, and 40% to the federation.

The federation claimed that the players demanded between 75% and 100% of the prize money, while a letter from the players included a demand for 40%.

The players' letter stated that negotiations about the bonuses "were unnecessarily delayed" by executives who "take leaves," before submitting an "old offer" to the players last week.

The Canadian team apologized to the Panamanian counterpart for not playing the match due to the players' strike, but the strike ended with the players returning to training, despite no resolution to the dispute.

The Canadian team stated in another letter, "We, the Canadian men's team, have decided to resume training in preparation for participating in the Qatar World Cup."

It added, "To be clear, we have not reached an agreement (with the Canadian Federation)," and the team continued, "The players met with senior officials of the Canadian Federation and will continue the negotiation process, but there are still questions that need answers and actions that must be taken."
