Today, Ahmed Hussein, the Minister of International Development, announced that Canada is providing $50 million in humanitarian assistance to meet the urgent needs of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and surrounding areas, ensuring that none of this money reaches the hands of Hamas.
Minister Hussein stated that this funding will help provide food, water, emergency medical assistance, protective services, and other life-saving aid.
He also clarified that Canada will remain steadfast in its call for compliance with international humanitarian law.
Add to that, the safety and well-being of civilians must be a top priority.
He explained that Canada will continue to urge all parties to actively work to facilitate fast, sustainable, and unobstructed access to essential humanitarian relief for civilians in need, reaffirming our collective responsibility to support the principles of humanity, dignity, and protection for all.
