According to "Cineplex Inc.", it has witnessed the highest box office for July ever, with the films "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" attracting large numbers to the cinema last month.
The Toronto-based cinema chain states that the record month surpassed $86 million in net box office revenue.
July also marked the company's second-highest month ever, after December 2015, when "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" was released.
Cineplex confirmed that the highest proportion of profits during this month came from "Barbie," which generated the highest attendance in July at its theaters, followed by "Oppenheimer" and "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One."
The company says that 6.8 million moviegoers visited its theaters last month, and it recorded the second-highest monthly revenue at the box office ever.
"Barbie," starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, premiered on July 21, the same day that Christopher Nolan’s "Oppenheimer" hit theaters, with many fans treating the simultaneous releases as a double feature.
