Air Canada announced new European routes and plans to resume specific routes to Japan this summer, in an effort to expand international services. The Montreal-based airline plans to resume flights from Vancouver to Tokyo Haneda and Vancouver to Osaka starting next summer, having resumed its flights to Tokyo Narita Airport in April. This announcement comes after Japan introduced new border measures this fall, allowing all foreign nationals to enter Japan with proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, easing two years of pandemic restrictions. Additionally, Air Canada plans to expand European routes by adding flights from Toronto to Brussels, Montreal to Toulouse, and Montreal to Copenhagen, starting June 1, 2023. In the same context, Air Canada says that flight delays and cancellations have improved as tourists flock to Japan after the lifting of coronavirus restrictions and the implementation of new rules to protect air travelers with canceled flights coming into effect. The airline also says it will increase the number of current international flights in the Atlantic, Pacific, and South America regions, including flights to Tokyo Narita, Frankfurt, and Dubai. The announcement is part of Air Canada's plan to expand global services in response to the growing demand for international travel.
