Quebec Province has once again affirmed its dominance in the hospitality world, with four hotels ranking among the best in Canada, according to Travel + Leisure's ranking of the best hotels across Canada.
The travel magazine conducted a survey of its readers on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, spas, airlines, and much more. Nearly 165,000 readers of Travel + Leisure completed the 2023 survey, casting more than 685,000 votes across over 8,500 unique properties.
Hotels were categorized as either resort hotels, downtown hotels, or safari lodges, based on their location and the amenities they offer. Regarding the best downtown hotels in Canada, Montreal’s Nelligan Hotel took the top spot.
The top 10 hotels in Canada were specifically ranked according to criteria including rooms/facilities, location, service, and food. Nelligan Hotel's proximity to the St. Lawrence River and Notre-Dame Basilica — among many other attractions in Old Port — along with the hotel's stunning rooftop terrace, helped the hotel score an overall rating of 96.24.
Montreal’s Hôtel Place D’Armes came in second with a total reader score of 95.76, and Quebec City’s Auberge Saint-Antoine ranked third with a total reader score of 95.26.
Meanwhile, the Four Seasons Hotel in Montreal ranked ninth with a score of 90.86.
