The York Police issued a warning to the public after a series of opioid overdose incidents, one of which was fatal, in the Newmarket area.
The police say that officers responded to an overdose call on Friday at 7:35 AM. When they arrived at the scene, they found a 35-year-old woman without vital signs. She was taken to the hospital where her death was pronounced.
In the hours following Friday, the York Police responded to four other calls for suspected overdose cases. Three of these calls were located in the area of Penrose Street and Bayview Street, and one was on Cepton Street. It is believed that three of these incidents were non-fatal overdoses.
