The Russian authorities announced today, Sunday, that they thwarted a nighttime attack carried out by Ukrainian drones on Moscow, without causing any injuries.
They explained that this attack necessitated the brief closure of the capital's international airport.
The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergey Sobyanin, said in a message via the "Telegram" app that "Ukrainian drones launched an attack this night.. The facades of two towers housing offices in the city were slightly damaged, but there were no casualties or injuries."
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attack carried out by three drones was thwarted, reporting that one drone was shot down, indicating that the other two were "neutralized by electronic warfare systems" and crashed onto a complex of buildings.
Meanwhile, the Russian news agency "TASS" reported, citing "aviation sources," that "Vnukovo" International Airport in southwest Moscow was briefly closed to air traffic early Sunday before flights resumed later.
